Aconteceu no último sábado (19/10) o Ambassadors Connection, evento que proporcionou o encontro e o compartilhamento de vivências de muitas gerações de jovens embaixadores. No evento estavam presentes jovens embaixadores desde os primeiros anos do programa até os YA’s 2019 que retornaram recentemente de Indiana. A troca de experiências foi incrível! O Partners of the Americas RS/IN agradece a presença de todos 🧡!
No último domingo (24) ocorreu a Feijoada 2019, evento que celebra as culturas brasileira e gaúcha e onde nossos Jovens Embaixadores se apresentaram para um público de cerca de 100 pessoas.
O evento ocorreu no Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center, em Indianapolis, e contou com uma tradicional feijoada com direito a guaraná e o drink mais brasileiro de todos: caipirinha.
Os jovens se apresentaram ao som de vários ritmos brasileiros como frevo, funk e chula, para mostrar a diversidade cultural que o Brasil possui. No final eles fizeram um emocionante agradecimento ao Partners of the Americas e às host families pelos 2 meses de experiências únicas e incríveis que tiveram.

Os primeiros dias aqui em Indiana têm sido uma mistura de agito e descanso. Eu moro com a minha host mom, Laura, e com a minha host sister, Ebony. Elas são muito queridas e fazem com que eu me sinta extremamente confortável o tempo todo. Tudo com elas é divertido, desde ficar em casa assistindo TV debaixo das cobertas até ir no cinema ou no shopping.
Eu só comecei a ir para escola na minha terceira semana aqui. Antes, eu fui para a faculdade junto com a minha host sister. Ela me mostrou como era a vida na faculdade aqui e foi muito interessante conhecer esse lado também. A minha escola é a Riverside High School. As coisas aqui são muito organizadas e os alunos e professores são super receptivos. Todos sempre querem saber mais sobre o Brasil e fazem de tudo para que eu tenha a melhor experiência possível.
As paisagens aqui me encantam. Ser surpreendida pela neve ao sair da escola é incrível e o frio não me impede de aproveitar o máximo ao ar livre. As minhas primeiras impressões aqui foram ótimas e mal posso esperar para criar novas memórias desse lugar especial!
My first days here in Indiana have been a mixture of excitement and relaxing. I live with my host mom, Laura, and my host sister, Ebony. They are very sweet and they make me feel extremely comfortable at all times. Everything is fun with them, from staying at home watching TV to going to the cinema or to the mall.
I only started going to school on my third week here. Before that, I went to college with my host sister. She showed me how life in college is and it was really interesting to see that side too. Now I go to Riverside High School. Things are very organized there and all the students and teachers are very receptive. Everyone always wants to know more about Brazil and they all do everything they can for me to have the best experience possible.
The views here are amazing! Being surprised by the snow when leaving school is incredible and the cold does not stop me from enjoying the outside activities. My first impressions here were great and I cannot wait to create new memories of this special place!

Não existe palavra melhor pra descrever minha experiência do que “perfect”. Tudo o que aconteceu até agora foi muito melhor do que minhas expectativas, isso que minhas expectativas eram altas. Meu primeiro contato com minha família foi incrível, eles me trataram como se já me conhecessem e como se eu já fosse da família, me senti confortável de primeira.
Na escola todos os professores me tratam muito bem, são compreensíveis e atenciosos comigo. Fiz um monte de amigos, almoço com eles todos os dias e eles sempre querem me mostrar um lugar diferente para almoçar. Visitei um grupo escoteiro, foi muito reconfortante chegar em um local onde todos têm o mesmo ideal e ser cumprimentado com uma forte canhota e, logo após, ser metralhado com várias perguntas sobre toda a minha vida.
Minha vizinhança é muito organizada e comunicativa, eles estão sempre compartilhando novidades e sempre atentos às câmeras de segurança que tem espalhadas ao redor das casas.
Em um fim de semana fomos para um hotel no norte do estado, próximo ao Parque Estadual Pokagon. Esse hotel tinha de tudo: piscina, sauna, hidromassagem, academia, sala de jogos e muito mais! Fizemos sledding (é tipo descer as dunas de trenó, só que na neve) e foi incrível, a gente chegou a velocidade de 30 milhas por hora (o que da mais ou menos 48km/h) e fomos várias vezes porque estava muito legal!

There is no better word to describe this experience than “perfect.” Everything that happened so far was so much better than my expectations, and my expectations were very high. My first contact with my family was incredible, they treated me like they already knew me and as if I was already from the family, I felt really comfortable.
In school all teachers treat me very well, they are understandable and attentive to me. I made a lot of friends, I lunch with them every day and they always want to show me a different place to have lunch. I visited a scout group, it was very comforting to arrive at a place where everyone has the same ideal and be greeted with a strong left-hander and shortly thereafter, to be asked with so many questions about my whole life.
My neighborhood is very organized and communicative, they are always sharing news and always attentive to the security cameras that have scattered around the houses.
On a weekend we went to a hotel in the north of the state, near Pokagon State Park. This hotel had it all: pool, sauna, whirlpool, gym, game room and more! We did sledding and it was amazing, we got the speed of 30 MPH and we went several times because it was really cool!
I am loving all of this experience 😀

Meus primeiros dias em Indiana estão entre os melhores dias da minha vida inteira. Eu estou estudando na Zionsville Community High School e tudo é muito diferente do que estou acostumado. Eu estou tendo aulas que nunca pensei que seria possível aprender sobre no Ensino Médio. Meus professores são fantásticos e tentam me incluir em todas as atividades que eles fazem. Além disso, eu me tornei amigo de alguns de meus colegas e conheci pessoas diferentes em toda a escola. Eu até vi um jogo de basquete pela primeira vez! Todos estavam ansiosos sobre quem ganharia, e eu estava me sentindo parte de tudo isso, aplaudindo e comemorando a vitória da equipe da nossa escola.
Estar aqui me fez entender a realidade que a maioria dos adolescentes americanos enfrenta em suas vidas diárias. Embora as dificuldades possam ser diferentes, todos nós temos medo do que vem a seguir em nossas vidas. É bom compartilhar esses sentimentos com pessoas de todo o Mundo, mesmo que nossas realidades sejam muito diferentes.
Minha família anfitriã é a melhor que eu poderia ter. Graças a eles, eu já pude ver muitos lugares diferentes e pude entender um pouco mais sobre a cultura americana. Embora eles tenham uma agenda apertada, sou muito grato por eles sempre estarem tentando me levar a lugares diferentes. A capital, Indianápolis, é um lugar bonito e culturalmente rico, com muitos museus e belos monumentos. Um dos meus lugares favoritos até agora era o Museu Eiteljorg de Índios Americanos e Arte Ocidental, que é um museu sobre os nativos americanos. Ter a oportunidade de conhecer a História deste país, e especialmente a História deste estado, Indiana, foi fascinante.
A última experiência que eu queria compartilhar (e eu não poderia deixar isso do lado de fora da minha incrível experiência) é a primeira vez que vi neve e andei de trenó. Preciso confessar que realizar esse sonho de infância me deixou em lágrimas. O grande momento com que sempre sonhei finalmente se tornou realidade, fiz um anjo de neve!!! Nós passamos a manhã inteira brincando na neve, tentando criar um homem da neve (que não deu certo, mas foi divertido tentar), tendo uma briga com bolas de neve e, a melhor parte, andar de trenó. Essa tem sido a melhor experiência que já tive e eu não tenho palavras para dizer o quanto sou grato por tudo isso.
My first days in Indiana are among the best days of my entire life. I am studying at Zionsville Community High School and everything is very different from what I am used to. I am taking classes that I never thought would be possible to learn anything about in High School. My teachers are fantastic and try to include me in all the activities that they do. Also, I’ve become friends with some of my classmates and I met different people throughout the school.. I even saw a basketball game for the first time! Everyone was anxious about who would win, and I was feeling like a part of all that, cheering and celebrating the victory of our school team.
Being here made me understand the reality that most American teenagers face in their daily lives. Although the difficulties might be different, all of us are afraid of what is coming next in our lives. It is good to share these feelings with people around the world, even though our realities are very different.
My host family is the best one I could have. Thanks to them, I got to see a lot of different places and was able to understand a little bit more about American culture. Although they have a busy schedule, I am very grateful for them always trying to get me to different places. The capital, Indianapolis, is a beautiful and culturally rich place, with a lot of museums and beautiful monuments. One of my favorite places until now was the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, which is a museum about the native Americans. Being able to get to know about the History of this country, and especially the History of this state, Indiana, was fascinating.
The last experience I wanted to share (and I could not possibly leave this outside of what my amazing experience has been) is my first time seeing snow and sledding. I need to confess that accomplishing this childhood dream got me in tears. The big moment I always dreamed of finally came true, I made a snow angel!!! We spent the whole morning playing in the snow, trying to create a snowman (which didn’t work out but was fun trying), having a snowball fight and the best part, sledding. This has been the best experience ever and I do not have the words to say how thankful I am for all of this.

Esses primeiros dias tem sido muito ocupados e cheio de novidades! Ter tido a mala extraviada não foi exatamente divertido, mas por conta disso fui fazer compras com a minha host mom para o primeiro dia de aula e isso sim foi divertido. Aqui é tudo diferente! As estradas, as lojas, a organização da cidade, os restaurantes, TUDO! No caminho para casa fiquei encantada com a beleza das casas, a limpeza das ruas e quando cheguei em casa me surpreendi mais ainda! Tudo maravilhoso, uma casa super aconchegante, os cachorros muito cheios de energia e uma família muito receptiva!
Depois teve o primeiro dia de aula. Minhas aulas começam às 7:30 e acabam às 14:25. Quando fui escolher as minhas aulas fiquei surpresa com a quantidade de opções de aula! Cerâmica, fotografia, joalheria, anatomia, culinária, várias aulas na área de engenharia, negócios e muitas outras. Apesar de eu morar em uma cidade com cerca de 4000 habitantes, a escola é gigante! Tem piscina, 2 ginásios, quadras de tênis, quadra de futebol americano e outras infinitas coisas. Além de uma estação de rádio organizada pelos alunos que é super legal!
As pessoas na minha escola são super receptivas! Me fizeram várias perguntas engraçadas sobre o Brasil. Na minha segunda semana de aula eu tive meu primeiro treino de natação e descobri que não levo muito jeito pra coisa…
Minha escola tem um grande departamento de teatro e inclusive teremos uma peça em abril! Fui convidada para fazer parte da produção da peça ajudando a montar cenário e coisas assim, semana que vem eu começo e acho que vai ser super legal, pois é uma coisa que eu nunca faria na minha escola no Brasil!
Para finalizar: a minha família! Jim e Robin são uns doces! Acho que nunca conheci alguém com tanta disposição quanto a minha mãe. Eles são pessoas com um coração enorme. No meu primeiro final de semana fomos a Indianápolis comemorar o aniversário do Jim em um restaurante italiano, que foi também a primeira vez que caminhei na neve! Depois do almoço fomos ao shopping, na Target, Jim me levou para tirar foto na frente do estádio dos Colts e voltamos cedo para ele não perder o jogo, que também foi super legal ver um jogo de futebol americano na televisão pela primeira vez!
Neste final de semana eu e a Robin fomos para Jeffersonville, IN cuidar do Jonathan enquanto Jennifer e Kyle faziam uma viagem de comemoração, foi muito divertido! Estou tendo um tempo maravilhoso aqui, queria que todos tivessem a oportunidade dessa experiência uma vez na vida!
Those early days have been very busy and full of news! Having the bag misplaced was not exactly fun, but because of this I went shopping with my host mom for the first day of school and that was fun. Everything is different here! The roads, the stores, the organization of the city, the restaurants, EVERYTHING! On the way home I was enchanted by the beauty of the houses, the cleanliness of the streets and when I got home I was more surprised! Everything wonderful, a super cozy house, dogs bursting with energy and a very receptive family!
Then I had the first day at school. My classes start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 2:25 p.m. When I had to choose my classes, I was surprised by the options of classes! Ceramics, photography, jewelry, Anatomy, cooking, many classes in the field of engineering, business and many others. Although I live in a city with a population of 4000, the school is really big! It has swimming pool, 2 gyms, tennis courts, football field and many other things. It also has a radio station organized by students that is super cool!
The people at my school are super receptive! They asked me a lot of funny questions about Brazil. In my second week of school I had my first swimming practice and I discovered that I am not a swimmer… My school has a great theater department and we’ll have a play in April! I was invited to be part of the production of the play helping to set up scenery and things like that, next week I start and I think it’s going to be super cool, because it’s something I would never do in my school in Brazil!
To finish: my family! Jim and Robin are sweet! I do not think I’ve ever met anyone as willingly as my mother. They are people with a big heart. On my first weekend, we went to Indianapolis to celebrate Jim’s birthday at an Italian restaurant (The Spaghetti Factory), which was also the first time I walked in the snow! After lunch we went to the mall, to Target, Jim took me to take a photo in front of the Colt’s stadium and we came back early so he did not miss the game. I had a great time watching a football game on television for the first time!
This weekend Robin and I went to Jeffersonville, IN to take care of Jonathan (Robin’s grandson) while Jennifer and Kyle went on a anniversary trip, we had too much fun carrying Jonathan. I’m having a wonderful time here, I wish everyone could have the same opportunity I’m having once in a lifetime!
